Leo gave you this cage after your star hunt. To release the slayhound, you're going to have to go to Kwismas Island. It refuses to get out anywhere else. If you haven't reached a high enough level, the cage won't open. It's for your own good. You wouldn't want to end up as Slayhound food, would you?
